Certification Profile: Having a professional certification means you passed an exam that validates your knowledge and abilities in a particular area. Certifications build solid careers. Having a professional certification gives you an edge when you're applying for a job or are up for a promotion. It's proof of your abilities and adds to your resume. Many employers preferentially hire certified employees. To determine which Certification is right for you, you must first consider your career goals.

Drafting Career Profile: Drafters prepare technical drawings and plans used by production and construction workers to build everything from manufactured products to structures. Their drawings provide visual guidelines, showing the technical details of the products and structures and specifying dimensions, materials to be used, and procedures and processes to be followed. Drafters fill in technical details, using drawings, rough sketches, specifications, codes, and calculations previously made by engineers, surveyors, architects, or scientists. Drafting work has many specialties, and titles may denote a particular discipline of design or drafting. Specialties include: aeronautical drafters, architectural drafters, civil drafters, electrical drafters, electronic drafters, mechanical drafters, process piping or pipeline drafters.

Computer Programming Career Profile: Computer programmers write, test, and maintain the detailed instructions, called programs, that computers must follow to perform their functions. They also conceive, design, and test logical structures for solving problems by computer. Many technical innovations in programming—advanced computing technologies and sophisticated new languages and programming tools—have redefined the role of a programmer and elevated much of the programming work done today. Job titles and descriptions may vary, depending on the organization.

Information Systems Security Career Profile: Security experts are now in big demand. Threats to corporate networks are at an all-time high, and with corporations opening up their networks more and more to customers, partners, and suppliers, companys are finally seeing the value of putting money into security. Network Security consists of ensuring data is both safe from intruders, and also replacable if damaged or destroyed. Network secuirty personel, also reffered to as computer systems administrators design, install, and support an organization's LAN, WAN, network segment, Internet, or Intranet system. They provide day-to-day onsite administrative support for users in a variety of work environments and also may plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures.

PC Support Career Profile: Computer support specialists provide technical assistance, support, and advice to customers and other users. This group includes technical support specialists and help-desk technicians. These troubleshooters interpret problems and provide technical support for hardware, software, and systems. They answer phone calls, analyze problems using automated diagnostic programs, and resolve recurrent difficulties. Support specialists may work either within a company that uses computer systems or directly for a computer hardware or software vendor. Increasingly, these specialists work for help-desk or support services firms, where they provide computer support on a contract basis to clients.

Web Designer Career Profile: Web design is a specialized function within information technology, and a key role in Web development. Unlike programmers, who work on technology at the back end and front end of the Net, Web designers create the look, feel, and navigation for websites. Their "front end" work includes defining the user interface (UI) (what people see and interact with when they come to a site—for example, the home page), creating catchy graphics or animated images, and choosing the style, fonts, and other visual elements to make a site appealing and help a company advance its business goals.
